Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a first-of-its-kind program to engage the youth in the decision-making processes of the state.
He told students at the Government College for Girls, Patiala, during the maiden program that India is a young country with a large portion of the population under 40. According to him, this population can play an active role in building the country. Especially, when their unbounded energy gets channeled into positive activities. CM Mann said this program can make the youth an equal partner in the state’s economic and social progress. This CM has already understood the power of youth dynamics in the country and has planned measures to encourage young entrepreneurs.
Programs announced for Punjab
He also said the government will shortly start an exclusive shuttle service for girls that operate electric vehicles. Launch locations for this service will include Patiala, Ludhiana, and Amritsar.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann believes this was a positive step toward providing ladies in these towns with the best public transportation.
He urged the girls to get involved and take charge in politics, saying that doing so was essential to the state’s ability to make decisions and enact laws effectively. He asserted that politics has an impact on all facets of life and that if more women enter this area, they will undoubtedly contribute significantly to the development and prosperity of the nation.
Mann stated that girls benefit society and can be efficient legislators and that 11 female MLAs from his party had won significant victories in the 2022 assembly elections. Of these 11, he claimed that two legislators got promoted to ministers in his Cabinet. In addition, it may be noted that five female SSPs and seven female DCs were appointed for the first time in the state’s history in various districts.
He further announced the opening of all-female police stations across all districts. According to the CM, the state has six specifically designated women’s police stations, and soon, each district will have one.
CM Mann addressed the youth and said that everyone must carry out their responsibilities with professional commitment, devotion, and honesty. The Chief Minister said that many reforms are needed in education to help young people succeed.

The ultimate goal
The ultimate goal, as stated by CM Mann, is to ensure that young people actively participate in the socioeconomic development of the state. Apart from that the CM released grants totaling Rs 1 crore for a library block, Rs 51 lakh for a cutting-edge auditorium/multipurpose hall, etc., for the college he visited. The Chief Minister also spoke with the students and answered their questions at the event.
“Demographics is destiny,” Elon Musk tweeted recently replying to a tweet that listed countries based on population estimations, India topped that list.
India has the most population of adolescents and young people ever. UNFPA predictions show India’s population will be among the youngest in the world by 2030. India is witnessing a “youth bulge” that will endure until 2025, which means a demographic window of opportunity. At such a time, it seems the CM of Punjab has taken suitable steps and is moving in the right direction.
