Ola Electric is set to revolutionize the electric scooter market with the launch of its Gen 3 platform on January 31, 2025. This new platform introduces significant advancements in design and performance, aiming to enhance the riding experience for users.
A key advancement in the Gen 3 platform is the development of an in-house battery pack. Manufactured at Ola’s Gigafactory in Tamil Nadu, these lithium-ion cells are designed to offer improved energy density and efficiency. The integration of the battery, motor, and electronics into a single unit not only streamlines the scooter’s architecture but also reduces production costs, making electric mobility more accessible.
This design not only streamlines the scooter’s structure but also delivers a 26% improvement in performance and a 22.5% reduction in costs compared to previous models.
The battery pack comprises 4,680 cells that are larger in diameter, offering a 10% increase in energy density. Enhancements in shock resistance and thermal efficiency further contribute to the battery’s durability and performance. The new electric motor features magnetized electrical coils instead of permanent magnets, resulting in higher efficiency and increased torque, with peak power and torque estimated at 15 kW and 70 Nm, respectively.
The Gen 3 lineup includes the Ola S2 and S3 models. The S2 is available in three variants: City, Tourer, and Sports, catering to diverse rider preferences. The S3 is positioned as a premium maxi-scooter, offered in Grand Adventure and Grand Tourer variants, designed for those seeking luxury and extended travel capabilities.
For potential buyers, it’s advisable to stay updated with official announcements from Ola Electric and consult authorized dealers for detailed specifications and pricing. Test rides can provide valuable insights into the scooter’s performance and suitability to individual needs. As the electric vehicle market evolves, the Ola Gen 3 platform represents a significant step forward in sustainable urban mobility.
