Mahindra’s all-new XUV400 Electric SUV is set to make its global debut in India today.
The domestic automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, will be unveiling its all-new XUV400 Electric SUV in Indian markets today – September 8, 2022. Mahindra XUV400, which is based on the ICE version of the company’s XUV300, and designed with an all-electric powertrain, will make its global debut and launch today evening
Mahindra & Mahindra is expecting to pitch its swanky XUV400 SUV model against other big brands in the same space such as Nexon EV Max, Tata Nexon EV Prime, and MG ZS EV among others.
The expected range of the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV is over 350 km.
Setting the stage for its new XUV400 electric SUV launch today, earlier last month, on Independence Day, Mahindra & Mahindra displayed its wide range of electric concepts.
The Naming of the Mahindra XUV400 EV

Interestingly, the all-new XUV400 electric SUV was named the ‘electric XUV300.’
However, the company later decided to change the name of its swanky electric SUV offering to the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
Mahindra & Mahindra decided to make the name change to create a clear distinction between the XUV400 which is an electric version and the company’s ICE XUV300 version.

As mentioned earlier, while the XUV400 electric SUV is based on the Mahindra XUV300, the XUV 400 EV will come loaded with the latest connected tech and ADAS features. The electric SUV will also include a new headlight with integrated DRLs offering a new design for the tail lamps.
In addition, the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will feature an updated LED taillight with redesigned lighting elements.
Styling of the Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV
While the Mahindra XUV400 will mirror the XUV300 in some ways, the new XUV400 electric SUV is expected to feature smaller LED DRLs. These will not extend all the way down to the vehicle’s fog lamp housings.
Furthermore, the front radiator grille will not be a functional aspect of the XUV400.
Another key difference between the XUV300 and the all-new XUV400 electric SUV is that the XUV400 will be longer than the XUV300 with a longer rear overhang. The XUV400’s 4.2-meters in length will be useful in giving Mahindra’s new electric SUV more boot space and volume. The extra length of the XUV400 electric SUV is because while the ICE models invite tax benefits for being less than 4 meters, the same tax benefits are not open for electric vehicles.
Interiors of the Mahindra XUV400
True to its swanky look, the interiors of the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV are designed to impress. The design elements are expected to be different from the interiors of the XUV300’s white shade.
In addition to the extra trunk space, the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV will obviously offer other features that will set it apart from the fossil-powered XUV300 and is expected to come with all connected car tech.
Also, customers can expect the Mahindra XUV400 electric SUV to come with a variety of safety features including multiple airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system), cornering brake control, and EBD (electronic brake force distribution).
